At The Forrester Center, an integral aspect of our mission involves actively engaging with the Spartanburg County community.

Programs in the Spartanburg community cover aspects of both the education and prevention of substance use disorders. Explore them below.

Palmetto Retailers Education Program (PREP)

The Palmetto Retailers Education Program (PREP) is a merchant education program approved by the S.C. Department of Revenue and S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. This curriculum provides managers and servers/sellers of alcohol and/or tobacco with the knowledge and skills to comply with state laws as they relate to alcohol and tobacco sales.

Impact Coalition

Spartanburg’s Impact Coalition is a group of engaged parents, youth, law enforcement, educators, and members of other key sectors of the community.  We strive to reduce the harmful impacts of alcohol and other drugs on youth and families in Spartanburg.

Youth Engagement

By partnering with Connect Ambassadors, we help to equip Spartanburg teens with the knowledge and skills to be able to conduct peer-to-peer campaigns for substance use and mental health prevention.

South Carolina Tobacco Education Program (TEP)

TEP is a youth-focused program designed to educate youth on the dangers of tobacco, including its negative impact on health, finances, and quality of life. Youth can be referred to this program by school administrators, law enforcement officers, parents, etc. The cost is $25. For more information, please call Jeff McAninch at (864) 707-2811.

Speaking Engagements

We provide interactive presentations that are tailored to meet your specific needs.  Topics range from general substance use prevention for youth to specific drug trends and fads that educate adults about the constantly changing drug landscapes.

As we look forward to continued growth and progress, we would like to thank Our Partners.
